Vidal Sassoon Salon
www.sassoon.com
399 Boylston St.
617.536.5496
As you'd expect from such a legendary name in hair care, this salon is super stylish and very high end - lots of chrome, mirror and whiteness, which gives the whole place a clean, fresh look. There are nine levels of Sassoon stylist, so there'll be something for all budgets. If you want the top man, though (not Vidal himself, unfortunately), you're looking at somewhere around the $120 mark. They're especially great on colors here, but even if you're just here for a cut, it's worth adding on the $30 'Sassoon Ritual', a luxury treatment carried out during your cut. It's an inexpensive way of giving your hair a real treat, and you'll know you've been 'Sassooned', as you sashay out of the salon all ready for that hot date.

Bella Sante
www.bellasante.com
190 Linden St.
Wellesley
617.424.9930
There are three Bella Sante spas in the Boston area, but this one in Wellesley is the only one that does hair, and it's total luxury. As well as amazing cuts, they do keratin treatments, glazes (amazing...), single and double process colors and highlights, and special occasion hair. The salon itself is very contemporary, with nice, wide chairs, huge windows and mirrors, and plenty of fresh flowers to add to the mellow ambiance. You can get a whole range of spa services, too, so why not make a day of it, and do the whole body, from top to toe?

Lord's & Lady Hair Salon
www.lordsandladys.com
450 Belgrade Ave.
West Roxbury
617.323.4700
It sounds very classical and a bit stuffy, but this salon is actually very a la mode and elegant. Decor-wise, it's a triumph of clean white lines, fluidity and gentle orange accents, and all stylists are comprehensively trained to meet the stringent requirements needed to work here. You'll get excellent consultation services as well as precise cuts, colors, perms and treatments. They do other services, like make up, tanning, waxing and massage. They are experts at Japanese straightening, too (Bio Ionic), and a big plus is that they have a cyber cafe onsite, so busy single girls can work and relax at the same time.

These guys are 'vision-makers'. They're just great at having you tell them exactly what you envision for your hair, and actually making it happen. Walking into the salon is like walking into a little piece of fashionable Italy - ornate mirrors, pretty chandeliers and a spotless floor. The style and class just oozes out of this place. You'll be assigned a stylist according to the type of hair you have. This way, you'll be getting an expert, not just whoever happens to be free. They're also environmentally conscious and try to use organic or sustainable products wherever possible. If they care this much about the planet, then they're going to care about your hair. The salon offers cuts, colors, perms, straightening, treatments and even 'Ladies Night Out' hairdos. They also do blowdry classes, and consultations are complimentary.
